How GearTube makes money
Affiliate disclosure
Some links on GearTube may earn us a commission. Here is exactly how that works, and what it never changes.
The short version
When you click a “Check price at [store]” link and buy something, the store may pay GearTube a small commission. You pay the same price either way.
GearTube currently earns commissions through: Amazon Associates (Amazon). Links that can earn us money read “Check price at …”.
As an Amazon Associate, GearTube earns from qualifying purchases.
What commissions never change
- Which gear we list. Every item comes from the creator’s own video, video description, an on-camera mention, or a cited article, and links to that source with its date.
- Which store we link to has no effect on whether an item appears. Gear that no store sells still gets listed.
- We don’t accept payment from brands or creators to add, remove or reorder gear.
- We label items as “sponsored” when the creator’s source video was sponsored or included a sponsor read, so you can weigh the recommendation.
Where the links are
Affiliate links appear in the price column of creator pages and roundups, and next to the product name on gear pages. Each page with price links shows a short disclosure near the top. Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" for search engines.
Sponsors
If the Setup Changes newsletter or the site ever carries a sponsor, it will be labelled “Sponsored” where it appears.
Not affiliated with creators
GearTube is independent. We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any creator or show listed on the site. Creator avatars are shown to identify whose setup a page describes; see credits.
